Mondale-Quie Essay Contest Issue for 2019-2020:

2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, extending the right to vote to most women. The amendment reads, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”

Question to be answered: In light of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, discuss whether the right to vote should be expanded further and, if so, to what groups. Explain your reasoning.
